Description
Not for the faint hearted! This Wild Chopped 34 Coupe is every bit as good as it looks as its basically a brand new car!Originally constructed and put on the road back in 1989 this was apparently the first LVVTA car to be registered under the then all new system, and was regarded highly as a test mule for the process, while being recognised as a very well-engineered car way back then, having originally been built by Dave Page from a Pete Osbourne body. After travelling around the country enjoying numerous shows and events over the decades, winning much admiration and no doubt filling the trophy cabinet, as well as going on to become a feature car in the NZ Rodder back in 2003, the most recent local custodian purchased the car in that form, and then decided it was a little dated and needed a bit of a freshen up..as is often the case this is where things got a bit out of handand what you see before you now is a total ground up no expense spared, complete and total rebuild at an eye watering cost in both resources and man hours and the results of this absolute passion project which has been painstakingly carried out by a very clever engineer owner, are evident throughout the build. The beautifully detailed and fabricated and boxed chassis is home to a heavily detailed Big Als Toy Box 406 Cubic inch small block Chevy topped with a magnificent 671 Blower and twin 750s, further fettled tested and dynode by a local and well respected Race engine builder, coupled up to a rebuilt Turbo 400 and on into a new Tru Trac nine inch rear end. The builder describes this car as being completely rebuilt right down to every stainless bolt nut and washer, and it certainly is pretty spectacular in its general presentation. The modified body has been fettled with exceptional detail and fitment, and then refinished in a stunning retina stretching Bright Yellow, with real fire flames airbrushed on, so this is not a car you could simply walk past without taking a second look! The interior has also been completely refurbished with new competition seating, full drivers harness, and has some nice trick features incorporated into the build like electric windows, Ididit column and all new Auto Meter Comp gauges. This is not the builders first rodeo having completed a number of quality builds for his private collection, and as a result this car has very decent manners and performs very well without being challenging to drive. The 406 is quoted at 600 hp, and as you could imagine the power to weight ratio is insaneThe photos tell the story of the detail in this cool Hot Rod, and a fully documented and itemised list of the works carried out is available online as this 34 has just been re Low Volume Certified under the new disc system for total piece of mind. An impressive package being offered at a fraction of its build cost, this cool Hot Rod really represents a lot of bang for your buck! Simply not getting the use it deserves as part of a bigger collection, the decision has reluctantly been made to let her go to a new home!
