This Stunning Genuine S Code factory Big Block 67 Mustang has a back story that is just a cool as the car itself.Purchased brand new in 1967 by a young street racer this Mustang was purchased with the sole purpose of striking fear into anyone who came in contact with it on the gritty streets around its home town of Detroitalmost immediately after purchase this thing was put on the streets to win races on the infamous Woodward Avenue at every opportunity, and thats exactly what it did. Some very tough cars came into contact with the Mustang in the early days only to come off second best, but as the competition became more fierce by 68 this incredible car was fitted with a then new top of the line FE 427 cubic inch genuine High Performance Side Oiler engine, complete with Tunnel Port heads and a genuine Ford Twin Quad tunnel port intake manifold topped with Twin Fast injection units. This Monster engine was coupled up to a beefed up C6 heavy Duty transmission and on into Detroit locker nine inch, so there was never really much competition after that.it was pretty much game over for anything that attempted to out run this car at the street lights..and this cars hard earned and fearsome reputation would remain for decades. The original owner of this car and his brother both of whom were Ford employees when this car came out successfully developed this car right from day one, and it has been thoroughly documented throughout the many years it has been competing in multiple publications, including being used as a test mule for the introduction of Holley Pro Jection throttle body Injection Carburettors, with all of this history retained in articles that have survived with the car to this day. Today this very special Mustang has been lovingly restored in the USA before arriving on or shores to be developed further with a full upgrade to Heitz fully independent coil over front end, and numerous other upgrades carried out by its highly competent engineer owner. This rare first year Big Block Mustang was used mainly for competition from the very beginning of its life, and was never really just a daily driver, so although its lived a fast paced existence its never been badly damaged or had a chance to lie around and get rusty, the body is in beautiful condition and it is finished in a gorgeous flame Red with the white Shelby style Le Mans stripes which look sensational. A show and go car for a large part of its life this Fastback has had a very extensive refurbishment carried out since its arrival to NZ, and the overall presentation today is simply stunning. The performance of this Monster Mustang even by todays standards is quite remarkable, as they say there is no substitute for cubic inches, and this thing has it in spades with incredible torque from the moment the pedal goes down, so this is a car that is to be treated with a lot of respectTo have so much history and so much detailed research survive and be retained in a car of this age is really quite special, but this has always been a very cool car, and it always will be.
